Allen Arthur Otte

Allen Otte, 86, of St. Anthony, MN passed away peacefully on January 28th after struggling with dementia for over six years. He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, his wife Christine and grandson John Ehritt. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Annette (Ehritt), son Clark (Michelle), Annette's children; Kim, Mikel & Chris Ehritt and granddaughters Mackenzie & Alexis Otte and Maria Ehritt (Brett). Allen was born in Wayne, Nebraska and proud of his small town. He earned his private pilot's license at sixteen, was a helicopter mechanic in the Army, and received degrees in mechanical engineering from Nebraska and Purdue. He built beautiful furniture for our home and for friends while pursuing his profession at Honeywell, Johnson Screens, Hewlett Packard and CyberOptics. In retirement he spent countless hours building houses and repairing tools for Habitat for Humanity and made frequent trips to the cabin on Bass Lake. He will be missed by family, friends and neighbors who could always call on him to solve a problem or lend a hand. Dementia is a terrible disease that took those abilities from him. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 13 at Nativity Lutheran Church in St. Anthony, MN, with visitation an hour prior.
