Martin, Roger J.

Age 90, of St. Anthony, passed away peacefully at home March 5, 2026, with family at his side.

Roger was born November 17, 1935 in Chicago, IL, the second of three sons. Preceded in death by parents, brothers, wife Janet, and son Rodney. Survived by son Eric, daughter Allison, and six grandchildren Alaina, Philippos, Noelle, Isidora, Phaidra, and Owen.

He graduated from Mt. Carmel high school (Chicago, IL) in 1953 and remained a devoted alumnus to that organization. He then attended Michigan Tech University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. During this time in Houghton, MI Roger met Janet (DeMars), his wife-to-be. Following graduation, he served his country domestically and overseas as an Air Force officer, attaining the rank of captain. Following his honorable discharge, he settled in St. Anthony, MN, and was employed by Honeywell in Minneapolis for the design and manufacture of avionics until he retired.

In retirement he started a second career as a volunteer tax preparer for AARP, spending many years enjoying the mathematical challenges and comradery as respite during the dullest months of the year.

He was an enthusiastic bridge player, sports trivia expert, jazz sophisticate, supporter of grandchildren's sports and activities, and film buff.

Funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, March 13th with visitation one hour prior, all at Washburn-McReavy Hillside Chapel.
