Allen L. Parrish Jr.

Mr. Allen L. Parrish, Jr., 91, of Adel, Georgia passed away November 12, 2024 at his residence. Mr. Parrish was born on March 2, 1933 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Allen Larue Parrish, Sr. and the late Sara Green Nash Parrish. Mr. Parrish lived most of his life in Cook County and retired as the president of Adel Banking Co. He was a member of the Adel United Methodist Church. He was very community minded and served as Mayor of Adel and as a Cook County Commissioner for many years. He also was a member of the Hasan Shriner Temple where he served as Potentate.
Mr. Parrish is survived by three sons and their wives, Jim and Beth Parrish of Blairsville, Georgia; Jeff and Peggy Parrish of Adel; Greg and Joy Parrish of Moultrie, Georgia; one daughter, Cindy Parrish of Adel; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Howell Parrish of Adel; seven grandchildren: Justin Parrish of Atlanta, Georgia; Jamie and Chris Gore of Kennesaw, Georgia; Drew and Dr. Daniel Bennett of Valdosta, Georgia; Meghan and Mitch Williams of Cumming, Georgia; Julie Parrish of Smyrna, Georgia; Ashley Parrish of Moultrie; Heath Tomlinson of Adel; and seven great grandchildren also survive. In addition to his parents Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bateman Parrish, and his granddaughter, Rebecca Parrish Tomlinson.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the Adel Wesleyan Church with Rev. Doug Tolson officiating and Mr. Jeff Parrish providing memories of his father. Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The congregation sang "How Great Thou Art", Daniel Folsom and Ashley Green sang "The Blessing", Mr. Folsom also sang "It Is Well With My Soul" and Randy Booth provided accompaniment. Justin Parrish, Heath Tomlinson, Leyton Tomlinson, Reece Tomlinson, Daniel Bennett, Mitch Williams and Stephen Griffin served as pallbearers. Visitation took place at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the funeral service.
