Allen E. Schraut

Allen E. Schraut, 79-year-old resident of Hillman, MN, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Bethany Good Samaritan in Brainerd, MN.

Visitation held from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at LeMieur Funeral Home in Pierz, MN, with a Prayer Service following at 7 PM Thursday. Burial in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery. Caring for Allen and his family is LeMieur Funeral Home in Pierz.

Allen Schraut was born on July 26, 1945 at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN to the late Leo and Marie (Meyer) Schraut. He grew up in Hillman Township. Allen attended St. Joseph's Grade School and Little Falls High School. After schooling, Allen lived at home and helped his parents farm. He entered the United States Army on January 15, 1965. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Expert M-1, M-15 Rifle Medal. Allen was united in marriage to Mary C. Meyer on March 15, 1969, in Hillman, MN. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed in Hillman Township, where they raised their 5 children. The couple later divorced. Allen also owned and operated Schraut Trucking from 1977 to 1984. He enjoyed playing cards, computer, clock and watch repair and his Belgian horses. Allen enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Watchmakers Institute, and a life member of VFW Post 1112, Pierz American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

Allen is survived by his children, Brian Schraut (Laura Popp) of Sauk Rapids, MN, Steve (Sheila) Schraut of Royalton, MN, Christy (Tom) Schumann of Mesa, AZ, Jeff (Jennifer) Schraut of Royalton, MN and Dan (Leslie Parker) Schraut of Hillman, MN; brothers Marvin Schraut and Melvin Schraut of Pierz, MN; grandchildren, Ethan, Brody, Cody, Skylar, Seth, Sage, Reyna and Braxton.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Marie Schraut; and the mother of his children, Mary C. Schraut.
