Allene Francis West

Allene Francis West passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Sanctuary of Wadsworth in Wadsworth, Ohio.

She was born January 5, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio, the beloved daughter of the late Ernest Sr. and Vida Lee (Irby) Mitchell.

Allene lived a life marked by creativity, strength, and love for her family. She worked for several years in the medical field, providing care through home health services where she was able to help and support others in meaningful ways. Her compassionate nature made her well suited for caring for those in need.

A woman of many talents, Allene attended The Ohio State University where she studied art. She had a creative spirit and an eye for detail. She enjoyed sewing and had the unique ability to craft and create beautiful items, including trophies and other handmade pieces. Her artistic ability was only matched by her determination and resourcefulness.

Allene was known for her loving heart and strong personality. She could be firm when needed, but those who knew her best understood that everything she did came from a place of love. She took great pride in being a mother and grandmother, roles that brought her immense joy and purpose.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Nicole Jeffries, and her brother, Randy Mitchell Sr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving siblings, Clarence J. Mitchell Sr., Lorraine Mitchell, and Ernest Mitchell Jr.; her cherished grandchildren, Drake and Mason Jeffries; her companion of many years, Eric Sanders; Angela Kirtdoll Bates, who was like a daughter to Francis; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends who will forever remember her warmth, creativity, and strength.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Gregory-Martin Funeral Chapel, 255 S. 7th Street, Steubenville, Ohio.
