Alma Mae Bentley was born on August 2, 1924, to Claude and Etta Pierce in Grayson County and passed to her reward Wednesday, September 16, 2025, at the age of 101. She married JR Bentley on November 16, 1940. He preceded her in death in September of 1977.
She was baptized into Christ in Holdenville, Ok in 1985. She was a faithful member of the Whitesboro Church of Christ. She loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. Her favorite passage in the Bible was John 14:1-6.
She was a nurse for 37 years and she loved her career choice. Alma said many people would come up to her and say, "I remember when you took care of me or my loved one in the hospital. You were very kind to us." Her loving and caring spirit for her patients was always noticed. She has cared for a lot of people in her 101 years of life, which included her mother and daddy, her brothers and her aunt Cora Mae. We were even told by the nurses at Beacon Hill that Mima (that's what all the nurses and staff called her) would say "I'm here to help."
Alma is survived by two sons, Bill Bentley and wife Star of McKinney and Mike Bentley and wife Sue of Sherman: one daughter-in-law Carol Bentley of Sherman.
Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband J.R., two sons Richard Bentley and Jerry Bentley, one grandson, Brian Bentley and seven brothers.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Beacon Hill and the nurses with Heart-to-Heart Hospice for their loving and gentle care of our mother and grandmother.
