Alma Shirley Evans

Alma Shirley Evans, 86, short term resident of Benton, Louisiana, longtime resident of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away August 30, 2022. She was born October 23, 1935 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late H.D. and Beatrice Gillette. Alma was a lifetime member of the Marshall Road Baptist Church in Jacksonville. She was admired and loved by friends and family alike. She was a very caring person who always thought more of others than herself. She will leave this world a little dimmer but Heaven has gained a shining new star.
In addition to her parents, Alma was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Evans; her brothers, Wayne and "Big Pete" Gillette; and sister, Bobby Lou Stanley. Those left to cherish the memories of Alma include her children, Tracy (Steven) Reneau and Daniel (Jennifer) Evans; sister, Penny Timbs; grandchildren, Tara Hicks, Shawna Williams, Kelsey Reneau-Spoor, and Austin Evans; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2022 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Alma will be laid to rest following the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville.
