Alma Jean Fleming

Alma Fleming was born Alma Jean DeFroe on September 2, 1937 to her mother Lily Hazel DeFroe and father Edmond DeFroe. She was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Alma was the 3 rd eldest of 5 children, 4 daughters and 1 son.

She is preceded in death by her precious mother and father and all three of her sisters Eva Marie Johnson (the eldest) Sarah Ann Lee (the 2 nd eldest) and Ethel Louise Elliott (the youngest sister).

Alma was married to Charles George Fleming (who preceded her in death as well). After serving in both the Air Force and the Army he went to work for Bendricks in Kansas City, MO. He and his family were transferred to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, WA. Alma secured a job at Keyport Naval Torpedo Station, where she remained for about twenty years.

Her favorite things to do are playing cards, reading all sorts of books, but her true passions were watching and keeping up with the news. She loved politics! Her other passion was sports. The chiefs, the Seahawks and whoever Labron James is playing for.

Alma leaves behind to cherish the memories of her, the last of the siblings, her brother and youngest of all five Warner Jones and wife Alueece Jones. Her children – Rosalind Carlisle and husband Donald Carlisle of Seattle. Anthony DeFroe of Seattle and Brian Fleming (who proceeded his mother in death).

Domonique Smith with Mom Lanae Jackson, Lavelle Smith Jr and Lakayla Smith with mom Kisha Gibson, Theartis Wade Jr and Tiara Wade with Dad Theartis Wade Sr, and Robert Laster, all of Seattle, WA. Nyjah Thomas with Dad LeRoy Thomas and Aaron Holloway of San Antonio, TX. Monique Outlaw and Marcae Outlaw (Twins) of Spokane, WA. Nykeel Thomas with dad LeRoy Thomas, Laraya Thomas of Tacoma, WA with Dad LeRoy Thomas, Kiera Thomas of Seattle, WA with dad LeRoy Thomas. Keshaun Thomas (twins) of Michigan with dad LeRoy Thomas.

Nieces – Charlotte Gaugthier with Children Joseph and Tamara Gougthier, Hazel Rucker, with children Christina Wren, and Turquoise Barny. Veronica Price with children, Devin Price, Derrick Price, James Price Jr, Reginald Lee with children, Angel, Andrea Nunley with children, Lawona and Candice, Stephanie Elliott with children Anthony, Rhonda Elliott with Children Brittany Allen and Breyon Elliott. Nephew - Chesera Galhardt.

Her celebration of life services will be held 10am, Saturday, September 20th, 2025 at Shiloh Baptist Church 1211 South I Street Tacoma, WA 98405
