In Loving Memory of Alma Pranke

Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of Alma Pranke, who peacefully went home to be with the Lord on December 29, 2023. She was a devoted Christian, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose life exemplified faith, love, and selfless service to others.

Born on October 20, 1933, Alma Pranke [Hein] was known for her ambitious and positive outlook on life. She was self taught and gained excellence in many areas of life, most of all as a true Homemaker. She had a reputation for being a wonderful cook. Her delicious meals and baking abilities were a testament to her love for her family and friends. She was always eager to share and have people over for a good home-cooked meal.

Alma had a talent for creating a warm and welcoming home. Her hands were always busy with various crafts, including large hooked rugs and beautifully framed needlepoint artwork that adorned the walls of her home. She would knit, crochet, and embroider. She constantly challenged herself with difficult tedious projects, like the lost art of Hardinger stitching and elaborate cake decorating and baking. She was a skilled seamstress and made draperies to adorn the windows in the home. In all of her accomplishments she remained humble, stating, “anyone can do what they put their mind to.”

Not only did she work inside the home, but was an avid gardener. Her vegetable garden flourished, as did the many flowerbeds around the yard. She was a hard worker and always gave her best to any task, often singing out loud while she worked. The joy of the Lord came out in song.

She was a seamless blend of love, grace, and creativity, and her presence enriched the lives of all who knew her. Alma will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Otto; her devoted children: Marilyn Rinker and husband Mike Rinker, Michael Pranke and and his wife Debbie Pranke; her cherished grandchildren: Jennifer Postma and her husband Michael Postma, Ben Rinker and his wife Leah Rinker, Garrett Pranke, and Derek Pranke; and her adored great-grandchildren: Jack Postma, Lucy Postma, and Audrey Postma. She is survived by one of her 8 sisters, Jackie Krueger; as well as many nieces and nephews. Alma Pranke was a beacon of love and joy, always ready to welcome others into her home and heart. Her love for people and her unwavering faith in the Lord were evident in everything she did. Her family was everything to her and spending time with them was always on the top of her to do list.

A celebration of life for Alma Pranke will be held on February 3rd at St.Lukes Lutheran Church, 6705 Northway, Greendale WI. Visitation at 11:30 and service at 12:30 , luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to WVCY TV 30, The Christian TV for Milwaukee, or St. Lukes Church in honor of Alma Pranke.

Although she is no longer with us, Alma's love and legacy will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will live on through the lives she touched with her love and faith. We are thankful and blessed by her life and have peace knowing she is with the Lord and we will be united with her as will all those who believe in Jesus, our Savior and Lord.

Forever in our hearts,

The Family of Alma Pranke
