Alonzo "Honey" Ree Davis, 79, of Winston- Salem, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on July 19, 1946, in Bullock, Alabama, to Lawrence and Janie Crowley. Alonzo lived a life rich in love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was the devoted wife of Edward Davis, with whom she shared 57 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, commitment, and family. Her only child, “Londa” was the joy of her life along with her five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Alonzo found joy in life’s simple and beautiful pleasures. She enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband, traveling to new places, and surrounding herself with the beauty of flowers. She especially treasured family gatherings, where her warmth and presence brought everyone closer together. In 2014, she became a breast cancer survivor by God’s grace.
A woman of practicality and wisdom, Alonzo knew the value of a dollar and was admired for her thriftiness and resourcefulness—qualities her family deeply appreciated. Yet she also had a taste for life’s finer things, with an eye for exquisite jewelry and a love for quality craftsmanship. Above all, she was known for her generous heart, always helping others and giving back to her community. As her health failed, she strengthened her faith in God.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Linton and Gaston Crowley.
Alonzo leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Edward Davis; her daughter, Yolanda Smith (Curtis); sister, Gloria Smith; brothers-in-law, Edwin Davis and Donald Davis (Iris); sister-in-law, Jamezenna Sudler (Alfred); grandchildren, Tanya, Ruth, Naomi, Curtis Jr. (Gina), and Gabriel; great-grandchildren, Ariana, Jasmine, Jada, and Joy; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and example of kindness will remain with them forever.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, officiated by Reverend Bill Taborn of Mt. Olive Baptist Church , Winston Salem, NC 27103.
