Aloysius Hull Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John F Givnish Funeral Home - Academy Rd on Feb. 10, 2026.
Aloysius Hull, Jr. was born on April 15,1928 to Lucinda Ophelia Norris Winder and Aloysius Hull, Sr. in Philadelphia, PA. He was raised by his Maternal Family Village that consisted of his Grandfather Benjamin Norris, his Aunt Louella Norris Faulkner, and his Aunt Mattie Norris.

He was the only child born in his generation, and that shaped his values and attitudes about family. In his youth, he had several close friends and was "adopted" by their families. It wasn't until he became a father that he realized the totality of a family existence. "Peaches" or "Pete" as he was better known, was blessed to experience four generations of his family, and he actively supported and participated in each generation.

My When he was seventeen, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served as a Specialist Second Class. While in Korea, he took fire and was injured. For that he was awarded a Purple Heart. He received an honorable discharge in 1958. He married Anna Elizabeth Edmonds and was about to be a father for the second time, so he decided to leave to army and be present for his family.

Upon leaving the US Army, he worked several jobs. He recharged fire extinguishers in the Empire State Building; drove trucks for Whites Trucking Company; drove mail trucks for the US Post Office, and was hired by NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority to drive Buses. As a Bus Operator, he received several letters of commendations for exemplary service that lead to him receiving an award for Bus Operator of the Month. He retired as a Bus Operator after 23 years of service. He's now been retired longer than he worked on the job.

After retiring, he worked in the lobby of an office building as a Security Guard for Gummawitz,& Assn. Again, his gift of gab and pleasant manner made him a desirable employee. He performed this job until his wife got ill and he was needed at home to help out.

Preceding Aloysius in death was his wife of 63 years Anna Edmonds Hull and his 63 year old son, Edmond Norris Hull. Left to mourn Aloysius are his son Ronald, daughters Ella and Liese, grandsons, Bryan and Brandon, granddaughter Allegra, great grandsons Reese, Justin, Jacob, Brayden, Mateo, great granddaughters Alexis Rose, Malia, great granddogs Sam and Cali, and a host of nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces and other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Aloysius's Life celebration and viewing Monday February 16, 2026 11:00am to 11:45am John F. Givnish Life Celebration Home 10975 Academy Rd. Phila.
