It is with profound sadness yet a spirit of celebration that we announce the passing of Alpha Annette Payne, born on March 4, 1957, in Brookland. Annette departed this life on Sunday, April 20, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love and service.
Annette was a devoted homemaker, a supportive wife, and a steadfast Christian. Her life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family and community. Throughout her years, Annette worked periodically in various roles, but her true passion lay in her dedication to the Marmaduke Fire Department and the Northeast Greene County Fire Department. Side by side with her late husband, Dennis, who served as Chief of the Marmaduke Fire Department for many years, Annette played an instrumental role in helping Dennis found the Northeast Greene County Fire Department. Her contributions to these vital community services reflect her spirit of selflessness and commitment to her neighbors.
Annette is survived by her beloved family, Kevin Prince, James Prince II, Nelson Prince, and Brian Prince, who will carry forward her memory and the values she instilled in those fortunate enough to have known her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. and Alpha O. Prince; husband, Dennis Payne; brothers, Charles Houston Prince and James Lavonne Prince; and sister, Wanda Colleen Prince.
A graveside service to celebrate Annette's life will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Pine Log Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather as we honor Annette's remarkable journey and the indelible mark she leaves on our hearts. Following the service, we will lay her to rest, cherishing her spirit and the love she shared with all.
In her memory, let us continue to exemplify her dedication to community and family, celebrating the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives.
