1947 - 2026
Jul 15, 1947 - Jan 3, 2026
Pat "Panhead Pat" Payne passed away on January 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with Stage IV cancer linked to Agent Orange exposure during his service in Vietnam. Born on July 15, 1947, Pat grew into a man defined by strength, loyalty, and unwavering courage. He proudly served in the United States Army with the 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment - the Wolfhounds. During his time in Vietnam, Pat was wounded in combat and awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for bravery in ground operations against hostile forces. His service reflected the grit, discipline, and honor that defined his entire life. After returning home, Pat continued to live boldly and authentically. Known to many as "Panhead Pat," he carried the same fearless spirit onto the open road, earning deep respect among friends, fellow riders, and veterans abroad. Above all, Pat was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a huge extended family and countless friends whose lives he deeply impacted. Pat lived with honor, courage, and heart. The war may have marked his body, but it never broke his spirit. His legacy of bravery, loyalty, patriotism, and love will live on in all who knew him. RIDE FREE, Wolfhound. Your watch is over.
Services will be held at Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206, on March 7, 2026, at 11 am. Followed by celebration of life at CVR Veterans Outreach Center, 2405 N. Dick Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99212, at 12:30 pm.

I will miss my brother so much, we were pretty close and rode our bikes together and talked about how things have changed in our lives and the fighting of our cancers. I'm not sure how I'm going to get along without him to talk to. Till we meet again brother, you will always be in my heart.

My condolences to you and your whole family, Dorothy. My Larry and Pat "bonded" quickly as they shared alot of the same interests. Hopefully that bond will continue for them both in Heaven. My love to you, Bev
