Alpha Simpson, born on March 29, 1940, in Leslie County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Wilson Lewis and Sarah Day. She passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026 in Hyden, KY at the age of 85. Alpha lived a life characterized by her deep commitment to family and her unwavering work ethic, qualities that earned her respect among her co-workers during her time as a clerk-cashier at Food Fair in Hyden, Kentucky, as well as in her role as a deputy jailer for Leslie County.
Throughout her life, Alpha was known not only for her dedication to her career but also for her exceptional cooking skills. Family gatherings were a cherished part of her life, where she brought loved ones together, creating memorable moments filled with love and laughter. Her self-sacrifice and disciplined nature made her a pillar of strength for her family, and her proudest accomplishments included being a devoted mother and grandmother.
Alpha found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in flower gardening and fishing, hobbies that reflected her love for nature and tranquility. Those who knew her will remember her as a person of great character, whose warmth and kindness made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
She is survived by her son, John Henry Sizemore, and his wife, Cathy; her daughter, Maggie Lewis and her husband, Chris Lewis; her daughter, Rebecca Osborne; her brother, Paul Lewis; and her sister, Helen Hensley, treasured grandchildren, Anthony Lewis, April Estrada, Ashley Roark, treasured great grandchildren, A.J. Lewis, Hayden Lewis, Brody River Lewis, Makenzie Estrada, Kamryn Estrada, Mason Estrada, Kacie Roark, Chase Roark & great, great grandchild, Neo King Givens. Alpha is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ford Simpson; her father, Wilson Lewis; her mother, Sarah Day; and her daughter, Mickie King and grandson, Brian Sizemore. Additionally, she is mourned by her late siblings Mathias Lewis and Wilma Sue Carmack, as well as her son-in-law, Carlo Osborne.
Alpha Simpson leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and respect that will be treasured by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral: Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.
