Paul Dean Day, a devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully at his residence in Hyden, Kentucky, on March 5, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on October 25, 1965, in Hyden, Paul dedicated 25 years of his life to the coal mining industry, contributing significantly to the strength and resilience of his community.
For many, Paul will be remembered not only for his hard work but also for his love of family and his passion for life. He cherished the simple pleasures; hobbyists often find solace in activities that bring peace, and for Paul, this was evident in his enjoyment of fishing, swimming, and working on vehicles. Most importantly, he relished every moment spent with his family, creating a legacy of love that will endure through the years.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Sheila Kay Walker Day, He leaves behind his daughters, Gloria Belle Asher and her husband, RJ Dwayne, Dorothy Marie Baker and Brandon, Renda Leah Feltner and her husband, Dwayne, and Ivory Alice Day. He is also survived by his brothers, Brack Wayne Day, Robert Day, Joey Day and Melana, and Timmy Day, alongside his sister, Brenda Couch and Tim.
Additionally, Paul was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren, who were undoubtedly a source of joy and pride in his life. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends, all of whom will carry forward the memories of his kindness, strength, and love.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bobby Dean Day and Dorothy Combs, who undoubtedly shaped the man he became, as well as his sister, Mary Elizabeth Fredricks. Their guidance and love remain a testament to the values Paul exemplified throughout his life.
As we remember Paul Dean Day, we celebrate his unwavering spirit, his dedication to family, and the impact he had on those around him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Funeral: Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, Ky.
