Alta Deets Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 31, 2022.
FORT WORTH - Alta Ann Deets, 85, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2023, at North Fort Worth Baptist Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Mount Olivet Chapel in the Breyley Suite.
Ann was born May 18, 1937, to Floyd and Ina Biffle in Whitney, Texas. Shortly after her birth, Ann's parents moved to Edinburg, Texas, where her father had accepted a job as a game warden. Ann graduated from Edinburg High School and then received her Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas, in 1958.
She soon began her career, teaching first grade students. Upon having her first child in 1965, she took a ten-year break from teaching to raise a family and returned when her youngest child started kindergarten. When she returned to teaching, Ann took a position teaching special needs children which lasted for 23 years until her retirement in 1998.
Ann was very crafty! She was a prolific seamstress, making many dresses and other articles of clothing for her granddaughters. She made many crafts, and regularly attended craft shows to display and sell her creations. Ann also made many quilts, blankets, Christmas projects, cross-stitch projects, and other things. If something could be created with a needle and thread, Ann would make it. In addition to her love of making crafts, she also enjoyed working jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Often when she was sewing, the TV would be tuned to a Texas Rangers baseball game as she had been a staunch fan of the Rangers for as long as anyone can remember.
Ann was a faithful member of North Fort Worth Baptist Church for over 60 years, and she rarely ever missed a Sunday. She was actively involved in church life, serving as a member of the choir for many years, teaching Sunday school and vacation bible school, and volunteering in many other capacities. When the church had a potluck, you could bet that Ann's dishes would be among the very best there.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ina Biffle; and her brothers, Robert Biffle and James Floyd Biffle.
She is survived by her loving husband, John David Deets; children, Jeff David Deets, D'Ann Marie Albright and James Anthony Deets; daughter-in-law, Stacey Schoelkopf Deets; sons-in-law, Grant Albright and Alexander Deets; grandchildren, Ashley Adams, Madison Lachance, Grace Clifton, Hallie Albright, Mallory Deets, and Austin Deets; and great-grandchildren, Raney Adams, Bristol Adams, Jay Dee Adams, and Edith Lachance.
