Alta Huval Obituary
Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 2, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Alta Huval, 85, who passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at The Carpenter House in Lafayette.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Friday from 7:30 am until 10:30 am.
A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Friday morning by the Men's Rosary Group of New Iberia.
Father Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Kellie Richard, Kayla Huval and Lauren Brazda. Gift Bearers will be Ashley Williams, Kristen Champagne and Heather Boney.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Alta had a passion for painting ceramics, gardening, and fishing. Her love for flowers and decorating, especially during Christmas, brought joy to those around her. She was a great cook and loved to make meals for her family. Alta's greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, showing them unconditional love and care.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Steve Huval; daughters, Judy Lanclos (Bobby) and Lisa Devillier (Paul); son, Ricky Huval (Karen); brother, Richard Knott; grandchildren, Nicholas Lanclos (Laci), Heather Boney (Joshua), Ashley Williams (Travis), Kayla Huval (Chris), Lauren Brazda (Zack), Logan Huval, Brooke Richard (Kayla), Kellie Richard and Kristen Champagne (Brandon); and 21 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her grandson, Jamie Huval; son-in-law, Bryant Devillier; parents, Albert and Malvania Latiolais Knott; one brother; three sisters; and parents-in-law, Clodis and Anita Guidry Huval.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Lanclos, Brooke Richard, Logan Huval, Brandon Champagne, Travis Williams, and Joshua Boney.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home, Ochsner Lafayette General ICU and The Carpenter House of Lafayette, as well as Dr. Kirk Elliot and Dr. Gabe Robin, for all their amazing care and compassion.
