Altamace Bailey, a devoted matriarch and faithful servant of Jehovah, left a lasting legacy of love and kindness. Born on February 16, 1940, in Lafayette, AL, to the late Mary E. Howard and John Grubbs, Altamace lived a life filled with purpose and joy. As a loving mother to Elvis Grubbs, (Linda Best who she grew to love as her daughter) grandmother to Ebony Grubbs, and great-grandmother to Aleem Whitfield, Altamace's family was her greatest treasure.
She lived a life guided by the principles of their faith, and though they were not actively involved with the Jehovah's Witness community, their values and beliefs remained a cornerstone of their life." Her unwavering faith as a Jehovah's Witness guided her every step throughout her journey and she shared her love and devotion with all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Thomas Bailey; her sisters, Kate Franklin & Anna Dell Grubbs.
Altamace is survived by her siblings, Antonio Grubbs, Mary Dell Smith (caretaker until her passing ), & Mary Ann Spencer. A host of nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, cousins and close friends.
Though Altamace passed on June 6th 2025, her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her kindness, compassion, and generosity inspired those around her, and her legacy will continue to bless future generations.
