Althae Mae (Combs) Schellhorn, 90, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at Mosaic Life Care. She was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Fremont, Nebraska, daughter of Hazel and Hobert Combs. She graduated from Eagleville High School and later Cosmetology School.
Althae was a homemaker for many years and she also worked at Snow White Restaurant, a Bookkeeper at Seitz Packing and later obtained her Realtor License and worked as a Realtor for several years. She had previously enjoyed knitting and was a league bowler. She enjoyed spending her time working crossword puzzles and having a cup of coffee with her friends. Althae was a member of the Copeland Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed reminding those who came through her door of His love.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Schellhorn; son, Chris Goodwin; step-children, John Schellhorn and Tammy Rich; sister, Ardath Yates; and brother, Warren "Butch" Combs.
Survivors include children, Roger (Susie) McLain of Indian Lake, Ohio, Cathy (Steve) England, of St. Joseph, Kevin Goodwin, of St. Joseph, Calvin Goodwin, of St. Joseph, Connie Pullins, of St. Joseph; sister, Marilyn Thompson, of Grant City, Missouri; step-children, Dennis (Kathy) Schellhorn, Jerry (Julie) Schellhorn, Sam Schellhorn, and Kim (Keith) Fowler; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Graveside memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Allendale Cemetery.
Memorials are requested to the American Diabetes Association.
