Alton Ronald Williams, Sr. was born on May 30th, 1948, to Calvin Williams, Sr. and Lucille Williams in Bell Rose, Louisiana. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He attended One Vision Worship Center in Joliet, IL.
Alton moved to Joliet, IL, in 1965. It was there he met Dorita (Rita) McCullough. They were married in August 2005.
Alton was very creative with his hands. He was a skilled barber and carpenter, where he volunteered his services to the community. He assisted in building the Multipurpose Center at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. During this tenure, he received the award for the most hours donated to the building and development of the center. Also, he received the Man of the Year Award at One Vision Worship Center where he was still active and faithfully serving. He was a faithful servant in whatever was needed in the house of the Lord. You would find Deacon Williams opening the doors of the church, cleaning and welcoming the congregants.
Alton expressed positivity in his artwork, t-shirts, and greeting card drawings. He used his talents to touch others and bless them through giving. Alton also was co-writer of a book he wrote with his granddaughter, Ashlei. This book was one of his most cherished accomplishments.
He loved to cook, and he was known for his amazing gumbo that he would share with his friends and family. He made homemade candy, ice cream, root beer, cupcakes, cornbread, and many other foods.
Alton was an exemplar of manhood – as a husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Calvin Williams Sr. and Lucille Dupaty Williams; Siblings, Floyd, Calvin Jr., Carol, McNeal, and Victoria Williams.
Alton departed this life unexpectedly on October 21, 2022, and leaves behind to mourn his wife: Rita (McCullough), children: Alton R. Williams Jr., Bridget Landry, Nakia Smith, Frances Moulton (Jaron), Alexia Rakemel (Gabriel), and Lakitha Cook ; siblings: Russell (Shirley), Mary (Jerome), Maxine (Calvin), and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, Godchildren, family, and friends.
