The Funeral Service for Alvena Campbell, age 93 of Belle Fourche, will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon. Pastor Ed Zimmerman will officiate with burial in Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon. Alvena Mae Campbell passed away at 93 in Paradise, CA and joined her loving husband and friend Floyd on Dec.11th, 2013. Born in Lemmon, S.D. in 1920 to Otis B. Anderson and Isabelle Spicer Anderson, she graduated from Lemmon Public High School in 1938. She attended college for 1 yr in Washington D.C. and then returned to the Lemmon area. She married Harry F. Beals on Aug. 11th, 1941 having 2 children Randy C. Beals, 1948-1976 and Barbara A. Beals born in 1957. While raising her children she was active in the Presbytarian Church, Eastern Star, Legion Auxillary, Jobes Daughters and worked at 5 Counties Hosp/nursing home in central supply, she had many outdoor hobbies such as, riding bike, walking, boating, was an avid water skier and taught us the art of hunting and fishing. She was also involved in bowling, golfing and playing bridge. Finding herself single in 1974 and after the death of her son in 1976 she attended Dog Grooming School in Albaquerque N.M. and then moved to Missoula MT and worked as a groomer at Pryine Veterinary clinic. While in Missoula she married Herman Graybeal and enjoyed years of airplane traveling, as he was a pilot, and motorhome adventures until he passed in 1992. She then enjoyed hiking, cross-country skiing, and garnet mining in the Missoula area. She married Floyd Campbell in 1996 and continued with a full life until his passing in June of 2012 in Belle Fourche SD; at which time she moved to Paradise, CA near her daughter Barbara. Survivors include; her daughter Barbara and spouse Kenneth Coons, Paradise, CA; 1 grandson Daniel Scott Beals Elbring and wife Martine, Geyeserville CA; daughter-in-law Judy Hartline Elbring and spouse Bill Elbring of Penngrove, CA; sister Merna Votaw in Eugene, OR; 2 step daughters, Dorothy Baehr, Huntington Beach, CA, Debbie and Larry Daubs of Green Valley AZ; 1 step son, Delbert Campbell and spouse Brooke of Belle Fourche, SD. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and 3 brothers-in-law Dale Campbell, Don Campbell and Stanton Campbell. Preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Belle Anderson; son Randy Charles Beals, a sister Avis Jangula; 1 brother- in- law, Robert Beals; and 2 sister-in-law, Marjorie Wanstedt and Ruth Hoffman. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 to 2:00 pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.
