Alvern (Al) Ambers passed away June 6, 2025. He was born August 3, 1943 in New Rockford, North Dakota where he was raised on a farm. Al had 14 brothers and sisters, and he was the youngest and the last living. Al worked at International Paper Plywood Mill until the shutdown in 1979. He then went to work at Fort Vancouver Plywood Mill. Al decided to attend Clark College where he graduated before moving on to welding school. After becoming a welder in 2010, he worked at Universal Structural Inc. Al had many friends that he linedanced with. He was born a cowboy and was the best cowboy ever. Al trained many horses, gave lessons, and roped. His love for horses was incredible, and for all animals. He once said, "you earn their trust, they will lay their life down for you." Al spent many hours in the saddle. He loved to work at Whipple Creek, riding. He was heartbroken when it was sold. Al is survived by his two daughters, both of Vancouver, WA, Joann (Jodi) Ambers and Dori Ambers. Four grandchildren; Chrissy Beebe of Vancouver, WA, Joshua Beebe of Vancouver, WA, Levi Zitt of Yacolt, WA, and Luke Zitt of Vancouver, WA. Al had 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Al passed away in his daughter's home with his daughter Jodi and granddaughter Chrissy by his side.
I'm going to miss you, Daddy. I will hold onto our memories forever. Go ride with Zac and Kelly in the sky until we meet again. Love, your Jodi.
