Alvin Campbell, a man of spirited adventure and unparalleled courage, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at the age of 82 in Evansville, IN. Born on December 15, 1942, in Paoli, Indiana. He was raised by his mother, the late Gayle Mullin, aka "The best Mom a guy could have" and his stepfather, the late John Mullin, aka "The only Dad I ever knew". Alvin's zest for life and his enduring smile left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Alvin, a proud alumnus of New Palestine High School, served his nation with distinction as a member of the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career, dedicating many years as a respected member of Local 136 Plumbers & Steamfitters. Alvin's dedication to his craft was matched only by his commitment to his fellow servicemen and community, as evidenced by his active involvement with the Hadi Shrine and his status as a 32nd Degree Mason.

Family was the cornerstone of Alvin's life, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. He was a cherished father to his daughter, Julie (Jeff) Kempf, and son, Chris (Sherry) Campbell. His role as a grandfather to Chris (Edwin) Kempf, and as a great-grandfather to Liam and Luna, brought him immeasurable joy. Alvin's family circle was further expanded with the love of his stepdaughters, Mary Conger and Pamela Culp, and he was a beloved brother to Mark (Cheryl) Mullin.

Alvin's passions were as diverse as they were profound. He was a true free spirit who relished the opportunity to meet new people and listen to the stories they had to share. His love for culture was wide-ranging, from the roar of Harley Davidson engines and sleek lines of Corvettes to the excitement of NASCAR races. Alvin's adventurous spirit was complemented by his quieter hobbies, which included collecting guns, knives, and coins, each piece with its own story and place in history.

Words seem insufficient to encapsulate a man like Alvin Campbell. Adventurous, spirited, and courageous, he approached each day with a sense of purpose and a willingness to embrace the unknown. His laughter was infectious, his advice invaluable, and his presence a comforting constant in the lives of those he touched.

As we bid farewell to Alvin, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the time we were privileged to share with him. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us, and his memory will forever be etched in our hearts. Alvin Campbell's story is one of a life well-lived and well-loved, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

There will be a water burial service for Alvin on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 12noon at The Gazebo at Sunset Funeral Home & Cemetery 1800 St George Road, Evansville, Indiana.
