Holcomb, Alvin

Pinckney, MI

His Legacy…Alvin Junior Holcomb, 97, passed away October 18, 2025. He was born on September 28, 1928, in Pollard, Arkansas to Henry Franklin Holcomb and Lillie (Robinson) Holcomb. Alvin married the love of his life, Luella (Davy) Holcomb, on August 23, 1947 in Ann Arbor, MI. Alvin will be remembered as a joyful man who truly loved life. He was an outdoorsman, with a love of hunting and fishing, a lifelong golfer, and an enthusiastic traveler. Alvin found happiness in a well-cooked meal and his loved ones. With a sharp wit and a heart full of humor, Alvin never met a stranger. He often began a conversation by asking folks to guess his age-then flashing a grin and replying, "I'm three years from a hundred." Alvin had a deep love for children, and his playful spirit resonated across generations. His life was a tapestry of laughter, adventure, and love. He made sure no one ever felt like a stranger. When you came to visit you got a hug from Alvin, and when you left you got another.

His Family… Alvin will be missed by his children, Daniel (Kathy) Holcomb, Brenda (Denny) Mammel, and Patricia (Jeff) Shumway; his seven grandchildren; his thirteen great-grandchildren; his 5 great-great-grandchildren; his niece and nephew, Dianne Holloway and Mark Holcomb; and his many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Luella Holcomb; parents, Henry "Frank" and Lillie Holcomb; and his siblings, Jerry Holcomb and Leona Cummings

His Farewell… Alvin's family and friends will gather Friday October 31, 2025, from 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM, at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Shelters Chapel, 250 N Mill St, Pinckney, MI 48169. A short memorial gathering will be held on Saturday November 1st, from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM, at the funeral home, with a Celebration of Life to follow from 10:30 AM– 11:30 AM at Shalom Life Church, 1740 M-36, Pinckney, MI 48169. Reverend Kathryn Holcomb will serve as celebrant. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. My thoughts and prayers be the Family of Al ! He was a Great Man! I still remember when Al and Lou would sit together in a Pue at the Congregational Church in Pinckney! Al also brought out his Bluegill cleaning table out and got his filet knife out to Show my Grandson Jayden how to take care of the fish you caught! I remember Dan, Gordie and Rod hunting and Al would just Smile!
