Alvin Harold Liftman

Alvin Liftman of Sarasota passed away on October 22, 2025. He was born April 15, 1926 in Stoughton, MA to Sadie and Philip Liftman.
Alvin graduated high school in 1944 and then joined the Navy. He was deeply proud of his service to his country. He spent decades in the Navy, serving in two wars. He served aboard the USS Lloyd Thomas as a supply officer and ultimately established the ship's reunions. After dedicating over 30 years to the Naval Reserves he proudly retired, achieving the rank of Commander.
Alvin graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst and then had a long career at General Electric in Connecticut where he was an expert in supply chain management. Upon retirement he relocated to Sarasota, Florida where he was able to spend more time with his many hobbies and interests including travelling the world, golfing, volunteering, gardening, and playing bridge.
Alvin is survived by his son, Douglas (Annette), his daughter-in- law, Barbro, their daughters, Rebecca Liftman (David Pilch), Rachel Lotstein (Jacob), Emily Liftman (Remy Elbez), and Jessica Liftman, five great-grandsons, and many nieces and nephews. Alvin is also survived by his loving companion, Helene Grossberg. Alvin was preceded in death, by 11 years to the day, by his wife of 64 years, Marcia, his son, Michael, and his four siblings.
Alvin was a loving and devoted husband and partner, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and a wonderful friend to all who knew him. He was much loved and will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at the Sarasota National Cemetery at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
