Alvin Luce Obituary
Alvin was born on April 21, 1941 in Big Spring, Texas to Perry and Georgia (Moser) Luce. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1958 and proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1961 during which time he traveled the world, including assignments in Germany and England.
After returning home, Alvin met the love of his life, Don Nell (Lay) Luce. They were married on April 19, 1962 and spent 63 wonderful years together. Alvin's second great love was the western way of life. He spent much of his adult life horseback competing in team roping events across Texas. He had a deep appreciation for good horses and loved to share stories about his favorites, Peso and Bill.
Beyond the arena, Alvin enjoyed hunting, golfing, and most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children: D'Dee and Tommy Morris, Brandon and wife Leona Luce, and Donald Ray and wife Erin Johnson. Grandchildren: Morgan and wife Lydia Luce, Ashley Luce, Jennifer and Kristian Morris, Paike Morris and husband Galen Hodges, Nicol and Kelly Cothran. Great-grandchildren: Caroline, James, Ethan, Danny, and Emma, who will carry on his legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dixie Bannister.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday August 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church, 6200 S Service Rd, Big Spring. Followed by a graveside service Trinity Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the West Texas VA Healthcare System in Alvin's honor.
