Funeral service for Alvin Thomas Jones, Sr., age 81, of Shelbyville, will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Jones family home (148 Wade Jennings Rd. Shelbyville, TN 37160) with Pastor Bill Adcock officiating. Burial will follow at the Jones Family Cemetery. Alvin passed from this life early Tuesday morning, January 3, 2023, at his home.
Visitation with the family will be held 12-2p.m. prior to the service on Friday, at the Jones family home.
A native of Rutherford County, Alvin was born on October 2, 1941, to the late Gracie Alvin & Margaret Lucille Pomeroy Jones. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda Jean Muse Jones; son, Oliver Clark "Sam" Jones; grandson, Robert Earl Jones, Jr.; and sisters, Erma Jean Jones, Julie Ramsey, Lucille Harrell and Ellen Jones.
Alvin loved the simple country life; he was a farmer and carpenter by trade. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially bird hunting.
Survivors include: sons, Alvin Thomas "Tommy" (Linda) Jones and Robert Earl (Susan) Jones both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Josh, BJ, Caleb, Samantha and Lydia; step-grandchildren, Dawn and Leslie; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; sisters, Linda Pearl (David) Allen of Shelbyville; also many nieces and nephews.
