Alvina Martens Obituary

Alvina "Ali" Martens, 81, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted daughter, sister, loyal friend, mother, grandmother, and proud great-grandmother "GiGi" of three little boys who were the joy of her life, Ali's love for family was at the center of everything she did.

Born in Manhattan, Ali grew up on the Upper West Side before briefly moving to West New York, New Jersey. She returned to New York, where she married in Brooklyn in May 1966, and later settled on Long Island in 1977 to raise her family.

As one of nine siblings, Ali carried the spirit of a big family with her throughout her life. She was a ray of sunshine, known for her positivity, warmth, and ability to light up any room. Loyal and generous, she made fast friends everywhere she went, and there was never anyone who didn't love her upon meeting her.

Ali was both a "tough cookie" and a free spirit - a warrior who faced every challenge with resilience, and at the same time the life of the party, affectionately nicknamed the "silver fox." Her playful humor and vibrant energy never faded, even in her later years.

Her greatest joy was her family, especially her great-grandsons, who adored her as much as she adored them.

Ali's legacy of love, strength, laughter, and light will live on in all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
