Alvina G. Voss, 92, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Creekside Living in Grundy Center. Visitation will be held at Pleasant Valley Reformed Church on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Alvina was born on October 31, 1933, in Wall, South Dakota. She was the devoted daughter of John and Jennie (Fecht) Buseman. The family relocated to Iowa when Alvina was young, and she graduated from Dumont High School in the class of 1951. She was united in marriage a year later to Carl H. Voss on June 12, 1952, in Dumont, Iowa. After their marriage they lived for a short time in Parkersburg and then moved to the family farm a mile and a half west of Fern until 1982 when they built their home in Fern. They enjoyed many wonderful years together until Carl’s passing in 2006.
Alvina was a devoted mother, a loving wife, and partner to her husband on their farm. She was an active member at Pleasant Valley Reformed Church. She and Carl served the church as its custodians for many years. She was also a VBS leader and a member of the Ladies Guild.
Alvina enjoyed fishing, she was an avid knitter and enjoyed collecting Precious Moments figurines and Fern memorabilia. She was a great cook and baker and will be remembered for her New Year’s cookies.
Alvina is survived by her children Calvin (Candy) Voss of Parkersburg, Iowa, Wendell (Tracy) Voss of Grundy Center, Iowa, Diane (Bill) Brown of Graettinger, Iowa, and Carolyn (Tom) Ohrt of Ely, Iowa; grandchildren Bryant Voss, Whitney (Jared) Maher, Justin (Lindsey) Voss, Alexi Voss, Nicholas Voss, Dawnielle (Shawn) Kelly, Shamus (Casey) Brown, Christopher (Marla) Brown, Skyler (Candra) Smith, and Morgan (Matt) Curry; 16 great-grandchildren; brother Lenis (Nadonne) Buseman; brother-in-law Bill Reysack and sister-in-law Helen Scarrow. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl; brother Albert Buseman; sisters Kathleen Pralle; Marion Pralle, and Jan Reysack.
