Alyce Falkner

Alyce Falkner, age 89, of Newell, Iowa died September 29, 2025 at Odebolt Specialty Care in Odebolt, Iowa. Funeral services will take place Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Alyce was born December 16, 1935 to Arthur and Violet (Schweers) Schmidt in Mukilteo, Washington. On November 10, 1958, Alyce was united in marriage to Frank Falkner. Frank welcomed Alyce's three children: Liz, Bart, and Midge. In 1959, they were blessed with a son, Bill, and their family was complete. Horses were a big part of Alyce's life. She and Frank raised purebred Quarter Horses and they started the Buena Vista Saddle and Surry Club. Alyce was known for her hard work ethic. She helped with every farm job and was an amazing cook and baker. Her grandchildren especially loved her spaghetti and tapioca pudding. Alyce found joy in planting flowers throughout their acreage. More than anything, she treasured her time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was a familiar face in the audience of her grandchildren's events. The farm was a popular destination when the grandkids needed a getaway. One memorable excursion was when she took her grandkids on an off-roading trip in a stock car. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Alyce is survived by her children: Liz (Rick) DuBord; Midge (Jim) Townsend; Bill Falkner; grandchildren: Alysa Hartman (Ben Loersch); Tessa (Cole) Wallace; BreAnn (Jess) Wier; John DuBord (Deb Droegmiller); Shawn DuBord (Adrienne Stuhr); Amber (Clayton) Uhl; great-grandchildren: Nathan Wallace (Caitlyn Malone); MacKenzie Wallace (Braden Lambert); Sydney DuBord (Trevor Unger); Addie DuBord; Halie (Jacob) Scholting; Blake and Alex Wier; Liam, Bodie, and Kashton Uhl; great-great-grandchildren: Haisley Jo and Averley James Wallace; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Falkner; father: Arthur (Ranghild) Schmidt; mother: Violet (Bill) Moller; parents-in-law: Ron and Sadie Falkner; brother: Arthur T. Schmidt; son: Barton Nehring II; great-grandsons: Brock Isle and Gage Franklin Hartman.
