Amanda was born in Cleveland, Ohio at University Hospitals of Cleveland to Amanda Oliver (mother) and Nathaniel Drake (father). Amanda was the fourth oldest out of eight children born. She grew up on the East side of Cleveland. She attended Jane Adams & East High School.
Amanda attended the Cleveland Institute of Medicine & Dental getting her certification as a Dental Assistant as well as attending Jersey City Job Corps obtaining her GED in 1978. She went on to go to Cuyahoga Community College where she earned an Associate of Arts degree in 1990.
As a young adult she worked as a Dental Assistant then moved on to working as a Clerk/Receptionist at the Juvenile Detention Center. Later in her adult life she was able to get a certificate as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) where she ultimately retired from after more than 25 years at Menorah Park.
Amanda was married to Calvin Butler in October of 1968, he's no longer with us. They had 1 child together. She went on to marry a second time to Eugene Bradley & divorced (dates unknown).
She enjoyed watching tv, shopping for all types of things, going out to eat and spending time with her family who she was close with. She also enjoyed working to the point where did retire but still held on to a part-time job as an STNA at Walton Manor.
Although both her parents are deceased, she leaves behind 2 daughters, Miranda Butler and Janel Bradley. And her younger siblings, Patricia Drake, Bobby Drake and Arlene Drake Parker. Her oldest siblings, Rose White, Margaret Coker and Nathaniel Drake as well as her younger sister Dorothy Drake (preceded her in death).
She leaves behind two grandchildren, Tai'rez Jackson and Calvin Bostick. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
I'm not sure how she wanted to be remembered but she was a no nonsense by the book type of person. She was willing to help whoever she could when she could. She was quite bossy, a little stubborn and said what's on her mind. She was the one in charge.
