Amanda Rice Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory on Mar. 31, 2026.
Amanda Kay Rice, 77, of Mooresville, passed away on March 30, 2026, at Grand Victorian of Greenwood.

She was born on June 20, 1948, in Indianapolis to the late Harriet Vaught. Amanda was a proud graduate of North Central High School. She dedicated 25 years of her career to RCA, working in quality control, and later spent 10 years with Allison Payments before retiring in 2012.

Amanda was known for her vibrant personality-she was bougie and fiercely independent. She had a true passion for shopping, especially for jewelry, purses, and shoes, and she loved collecting knick-knacks. Amanda also enjoyed country music, traveling, and attending festivals. She lived an active lifestyle, often taking walks, spending time with friends, and embracing every opportunity to be social.

Above all, Amanda loved her family and cherished her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

Amanda will be remembered for her lively spirit, strong sense of self, and the joy she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughter, Melissa Taylor-Brelage (Andy); son, Michael Cockerham (Carla); grandchildren, Haley Reiff (Zach) and Michael Taylor (Anna); great-granddaughter, Evelyn; and a great-grandson on the way, Alan.

In addition to her mother, Amanda was preceded in death by her lifelong partner, Jim Banther, whom she shared 28 years with; daughter, Kathy Cockerham; and sister, Sandra Thistlewaite.

Final arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. A celebration of Amanda's life will be held by the family at a later date.
