Patricia Ann "Pattie" Giesbrecht, 76, of Paragon, entered heaven's gates Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at The Springs of Mooresville.
She was born Thursday, March 31, 1949 to the late Gordon Walter and Dorothy Leriene Annie (Vernon) Gratias in
Seattle, Washington.
Pattie was a 1967 graduate of Lincoln High School in Seattle and received her medical secretary diploma from the Mason Clinic. After completing her education, Pattie began her career as a confidential research secretary for the Virginia Mason Medical Research Center. She worked several different jobs over the years, including as a unit clerk, secretary, and staffing scheduler at Vancouver General Hospital, a medical office assistant in a private practice, and a legal secretary for Gordon Fox. For several years Pattie served as the receptionist and secretary to the administrator at Rosewood Manor Intermediate Care, a role that allowed her to combine her administrative gifts with her heart for caring for others. She later worked as a customer service representative for Bear Creek Corporation and at Cathy's Concepts. Pattie continued her administrative work as an engineering documentation secretary at Hurco Companies, and concluded her professional career as a receptionist at Royal Food Products.
Perhaps her most important calling was as a caregiver, providing childcare for countless little ones over the years-something she did with extraordinary love and dedication. She cherished every opportunity to invest in children and took special joy in serving through children's ministry.
Pattie started for heaven March 12, 1960 - her Salvation day - and from that moment forward she devoted her life to serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A very loved verse, and one that led her to Christ, was Matthew 11:28: "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
Her ministry was a defining part of her life. She taught Sunday school, served faithfully in church nurseries, worked in the summer camp kitchen, helped in the church conference kitchen, and lovingly supported Terry in his Sunday school ministry. She also served in the Christian Women's ministry, especially in the area of hospitality, creating many beautiful crafts used to bless others at their ministry events.
Her love language was giving. Ever thoughtful, she always had a card ready to give for any occasion-Christmas, birthdays, or even to share a meaningful newspaper clipping. Pattie had a remarkable gift for making others feel special, loved, and remembered, and she formed deep, genuine connections with everyone she met. She had an incredible way of connecting with people and always made a positive impression on those she met.
Pattie was a skilled craftswoman. In her younger years, she learned to sew but recently took up diamond art. She painstakingly put together beautiful, colorful works of art with her diamonds. The many vibrant colors and patterns are a remarkable view into the soul of a beautiful woman.
Pattie's greatest gift was the love and faithfulness to raising her family. She treasured her many years with Terry as they raised their children, Brice and Lorrie, and built a home filled with love, faith, and kindness. Pattie deeply loved and cared for her immediate and extended family, pouring her heart into every relationship and making each person feel valued and cherished. Proverbs 31:28: "Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her:"
She is survived by her husband, Robert "Terry" Giesbrecht, whom she married on March 7, 1970; her son, Brice Giesbrecht, and wife Sallie; her daughter, Lorriene "Lorrie" Yalla, and husband Lourdu; her brother, Don Gratias, and wife Marilyn; her sister, Ruth McCracken, and husband Robert; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation is 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Costin Funeral Chapel. Service will follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m.
Pattie will be laid to rest at Friendship Park Cemetery in Paragon.
Pattie's family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Springs of Mooresville and Franciscan St. Francis hospitals in Mooresville and Indianapolis for their exceptional love and care to Pattie and her family.
