Nancy Alice Broyer, 89, of Martinsville, peacefully gained her eternal rest at 9:43 AM on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026, at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville, Indiana.
Nancy was born on Sunday, September 27th, 1936, in
Hazard, Kentucky, one of eleven children born to the late Fred and Mamie (Duff) Hart. She grew up in Hazard, where she attended and graduated from high school before continuing her education at Business College.
After completing her studies, Nancy moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked for two years as a secretary for the FBI. In 1960, her deep love for family brought her to Indiana to help care for her younger siblings while her mother underwent cancer treatments. During those years, she also worked for three years at RCA in Bloomington, Indiana, doing administrative work.
On July 21st, 1963, Nancy married the love of her life and soulmate, Fred Dale Broyer. Together they shared nearly 63 years of marriage filled with love, adventure, and devotion to one another. During the early years of their marriage, Nancy proudly stood beside Fred as he served in the United States military, and the two spent 15 years traveling and living in many places around the world. In 1978, they returned to Indiana and made Martinsville their forever home.
Nancy was a faithful member of Alaska Christian Church in
Quincy, Indiana. She had a love for travel and treasured the memories made along the way. She also enjoyed spending time around the card table playing games like euchre and rummy with family and friends. Nancy was known for her strong spirit, a bit of stubbornness, and a fiercely independent nature that made her uniquely herself. Above all, she cherished her family and the time they spent together.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Fred Dale Broyer of Martinsville; her loving children, Scott (Michelle) Broyer of Greenwood, Indiana, and Susan (Brad) Quimby of Smithville, Indiana; grandchildren, Dustin, Jordan (Haley), and Katelyn Broyer, and Allison (Rick) Quimby; and a great-granddaughter, Cadence Broyer. She is also survived by her brothers, William Colson Hart of Martinsville and Jessie Curtis (Carolyn) Hart of Lebanon, Indiana; and sisters, Joyce Ann (James) Benge of Martinsville, Judy (Michael) Clements of Cape Coral, Florida, and Kathy (Kenneth) Burns of Paragon, Indiana, along with many extended family members who will miss her dearly.
