Schmidt Funeral Home - BrookshireAmanda Sawyer (Johnson), age 57, of Hempstead, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on March 3, 2026.
Amanda was born in Houston, Texas, and lived a life centered around family, love, and making memories with those she cherished most. She was known for her loving heart, confident spirit, joyful personality, and a stubborn streak that those closest to her knew well and loved about her.
Amanda found great happiness in life’s simple joys. She loved going on cruises, spending time crafting, shopping, getting her nails done, and enjoying a good margarita surrounded by family and friends. She was also a devoted sports fan and proudly cheered for the Houston Texans and the Houston Astros. Whether watching a game or celebrating a win, she was always her teams’ number one fan.
Above all else, Amanda loved her family deeply. Her greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and her husband. Family gatherings, laughter, and time spent together meant everything to her.
Amanda is survived by her loving husband, Thomas “Ed” Sawyer Sr.; her children Jerrod Sawyer and wife Tricia Sawyer, Timothy Willis, Shawn Willis and wife Brittany Willis, and Robin Stiltner and husband Jason Stiltner; and her cherished grandchildren Kaileigha Sawyer, Remington Lilly, Rylei Lilly, Brelyn Stiltner, Noah Sawyer, Micah Sawyer, Nehemiah Sawyer, and Cordeleigha Sawyer.
She is also survived by her mother, Sheila Johnson; her sister, Andi Wilson and husband Steve Wilson; and her nephews and niece, Max Wilson, Rex Wilson, and Fox Wilson.
Amanda was preceded in death by her father, Jan Johnson; her brother, Derek Johnson; and her son, Thomas Sawyer, Jr.
Amanda will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the laughter she brought into every room, and the deep devotion she had for her family. She leaves behind countless memories that will continue to live on through those who loved her most.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 28, 2026, at The Switch, 700 12th St., Hempstead, Texas 77445, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Amanda’s life.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
