Amanda Shupe Obituary
Amanda Lynn Shupe
July 24th 1998 - January 28th 2026
On Wednesday, January 28th 2026, Amanda Lynn Shupe completed the mortal chapter of her eternal existence and returned home to her Heavenly Father. Born on July 24th 1998 in Santa Cruz California to James and Chris Shupe, Mandy quickly grew to be an athletic, smart, outgoing and friendly girl who enjoyed spending time with her brothers Jimmy and Justin and their neighbors in the fairytale-esque environment of the Coastal California Redwoods they called home. Whether exploring the creek that ran alongside their house, collecting acorns, picking blackberries, playing with neighbors, inventing stories of make-believe, visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium, holding her own against her brothers in any video game, going on camping trips with her family to the Sierra Mountains and Yosemite Valley or practicing her basketball skills at the park that served as her school bus stop, Mandy was always a joy to be around and constantly thoughtful of the curious world and other people around her. She attended school first at Quail Hollow Elementary and then San Lorenzo Valley Elementary Schools from Kindergarten through Third Grade, where she excelled in all areas, with a particular knack for both reading and mathmatics.
In 2007, Amanda's family moved from California to Utah, trading their periodic beach and boardwalk trips for mountainside sunset viewings and bicycle outings, as well as taking advantage of the snow with sledding excursions every winter. With encouragement from her Aunt and Uncle Lynette and Rex Shupe, she was also able to learn to ski and snowboard and loved spending time on Powder Mountain's slopes whenever time allowed.
As her schooling continued, Amanda's talents for math and science continued to grow, and she developed a love for astronomy and stargazing (perhaps born of nights watching the stars with her family in the Sierra Nevadas) that she would maintain for the rest of her life, even leading her to consider a career in astrophysics. While naturally skilled in science, Mandy also loved the magic in our world, and still read and enjoyed fairytales even as an adult, one true mark of a brilliant mind.
While she was blessed with intelligence and compassion, often going out of her way to aid complete strangers, in her later years Amanda fought with physical maladies and pain that doctors struggled to alleviate. Physical pain can, of course, affect the mind as well, and none of us can hope to know just how valiantly Mandy strove against thoughts of depression and hopelessness spurred on by her body's continuous afflictions. She is now free from pain and mental clouding, and because Jesus Christ lives, whom Amanda kept her faith in, she will live also.
Mandy will be dearly missed by her parents Jim and Chris, her brothers Jimmy and Justin, her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, dog Bella, and all those whose lives she touched, but we will see her again, in better form and health than we have ever yet known her, and in a time that won't seem so long once we're there.
We love you Mandy. We'll see you soon.
