Mother Amanda Washington, affectionately known as Maw-Maw by her grandchildren, was born March 5, 1930, in McComb, MS, to the late John and Betsy Perkins Boss. She was called to her heavenly home on April 26, 2023, at the age of 93. She served 50+ years at Beulah Land Baptist Church. She worked as a pressor for TLC Linen Services for over 25 years and worked at Copper Kitchen and Mackey Janitorial Service. She leaves to cherish her legacy, her daughter Verga Havard Fortenberry Scott; and her son James White (Sheila), first husband Sidney Havard Jr., 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 31 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceded in death by her parents John and Betsy Perkins Boss; husbands George Washington & James White, daughter, Shirley Celestine; seven brothers: Harry Lee, Curtis, John, Samuel, L.B., Issac, and Tommy Boss; and three sisters: Mary, Ellen, and Hattie Boss Shaw; and six great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to the Celebration of Life Service: Saturday, May 13, 2023, for 10:00 a.m. at Beulah Land Baptist Church, 2436 St. Maurice St., New Orleans, LA. My sincerest condolences, prayers and love to Mother Washington's family. She is now resting in the Arms of Jesus, The Christ, and Perfectly Healed. A virtuous Woman of God, whose character and spirit always exemplified loving, caring and sharing-with a beautiful smile. May God comfort and strengthen you.
