Amato Masi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by North Haven Funeral Home, Inc. on Oct. 1, 2025.
Amato (Bob) R. Masi, 82, of Orange, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, at the Milford Health Care Center, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to MaryLou Julianelle Masi. Born in New Haven on March 23, 1943, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Nancy Sannino Masi. He served his country faithfully in the US Army during the Viet Nam War. Amato worked as a traffic maintainer for the Town of Hamden for 27 years, where he also served as Vice-President of the town hall union passionately advocating for his fellow union members. He loved music, collecting records, watching animal or historical documentaries; and especially going to the casino or to an oldies concert. His quirky sense of humor and outgoing nature had him talking to everyone and making friends wherever he went; everyone in the community knew and loved him. He also was the first to offer help to everyone in need and often put everyone else's needs ahead of his own. His family meant everything to him, and he loved them fiercely and unconditionally. Loving father of Holly Masi (husband John Coppola) and Robert Masi (fiancé Vanessa Biagioli). Brother of Carmela Ann Masi, Ann Marie Basilio (Gennaro "Jerry") and the late Alfred "Fred" Masi (Patricia). Also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The visiting hours will be on Monday morning, August 11th, from 9:30 to 11:30 am in The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish in St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven on Monday, August11th at 12:00 noon. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjudes.org) or Animal Haven, 89 Mill Road, North Haven, Ct 06473
