Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, November 8, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington. Amber Ramstad, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and nana passed away on November 5th, 2024 at the age of 52 after being diagnosed with cancer in September of 2023. Her passing has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew her. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Arlington, Lake Preston, Oldham, South Dakota. Services will be live streamed on our website under Amber's obituary.
Amber was born on March 22nd, 1972 in Sioux Falls, SD to Terry and Susan (Garry) Baum. She was a beloved sister to her brothers John, Michael, and Ryan. Her family meant everything to her, and she took great pride in the bonds she shared with them. Amber's ability to make everyone around her feel loved and important is a gift that will be carried forward by all who knew her.
Amber attended the Harrisburg School District and graduated in 1990. She graduated college from South Dakota State University in 1994 with an early childhood education degree. From a young age, she exhibited a passion for caring for others that would define her entire life.
Amber was a woman of extraordinary warmth and generosity. She was united in marriage to Ryan Ramstad on August 31st, 1991. They were blessed with three children, Tyler (Jayde), Peyton (Bailee), and Trey (Hattie). As a nana, Amber's love and devotion expanded to her grandchildren, Tatum, Layne, and Knox who will forever carry her love and lessons in their hearts.
Amber's professional life was marked by her unwavering dedication to children and her community. She was a head teacher and owned her own in-home daycare for several years. After moving to Arlington, Amber played a key role in founding Arlington's first community daycare, a service that supported countless families and made a lasting impact on the town. After stepping down as the daycare's director, Amber continued her service on the daycare board, ensuring the organization's continued success and growth. Her commitment to early childhood education was a testament to her deep care for the well-being and future of the children she served.
In recent years, Amber took on a new role in the Brookings School District, where she spent the last seven years as a special education teaching assistant. Amber was passionate about helping children and her warmth, patience, and kind spirit made her a beloved figure in the school, and she will be deeply missed by colleagues, students, and their families.
Amber is survived by her loving husband of 33 years; Ryan; her children, Tyler (Jayde), Peyton (Bailee), and Trey (Hattie); her grandchildren, Tatum, Layne, and Knox; her parents, Terry and Susan; her siblings, Michael and Ryan. She was preceded in death by her brother John.
Amber's legacy of love, service, and dedication to her family and community will never be forgotten. Though she is no longer with us, her influence will continue to be felt in the lives she touched, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Rest in peace, Amber. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
