Obituary For Amelia Salierno

Amelia Salierno, 97, past away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at her home in Great Kills, Staten Island. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend to many.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Amelia, lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. She was known for her warm smile, gentle demeanor, endearing conversation and unwavering generosity.

Amelia worked for a number of years, where some may call her an entrepreneur, working at the clothing store A&S in Brooklyn, holding a secretarial position at the Park Hill Apartments, employed within the Baptist church, and held various leadership roles at Richmond town, including running the country fair for over 25 years, all of which she was respected for her dedication and hard work. She approached every task wholeheartedly with diligence and integrity, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with her.

In her free time, Amelia enjoyed reading books, attending church at St. Patrick's, playing Mahjong, and volunteering at Richmond Town woman's auxiliary for close to 30 years, finding solace and joy in the simple moments spent with her family and friends. Amelia spent many summers vacationing throughout the islands with her husband and family, which she enjoyed the most. She took particular interest in family Sunday meals, religion, fashion, cooking, gardening, and horoscopes.

Amelia will be dearly missed by her loving daughter (Anne Salaycik), grandchildren (Michael William Salaycik & Alexandria Lynsey Tizzio and her husband Cory), her extended family, and friends. She was proceeded by her late husband (Bill Salierno), son-in-law (Michael John Salaycik), and 11 brothers and sisters. She touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly for her kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Amelia Salierno will be held at Hanley's Funeral Home on Friday August 29, 2025 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. She will be laid to rest Saturday August 30, 2025, at Resurrection Cemetery proceeding 10:00 am mass at St. Patrick's.

Amelia may have left this world, but her love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
