In 1959 she met a young American from Rhode Island, stationed in her home town he was a military police officer with the Army. They were married in May of 1960 moved around a bit. Had 4 children and finally settled in Staten Island in 1973, Ingrid worked in Fort Wadsworth at the post exchange and then at the Navy Lodge until she was forced to retire, she liked her job at the Navy Lodge she was able to meet people from all over the world. She had introduced us to classical music early in life, every Sunday morning playing it loudly while cooking a traditional German meal for dinner. Ingrid was blessed with many good friends and wonderful neighbors. Ingrid's smile, laughter, sense of humor, kindness, strength and beautiful blue eyes will be deeply missed, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
