Amos L. Barker

Amos L. Barker, affectionately known as Duc, age 82, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025. He was born on June 17, 1942 to the late Thomas LeGrande Barker and the late Evelyn Hutchings (nee Pope). He is the beloved husband of the late Sandra Barker; devoted father of Stephen LaDuc Barker and wife Charlene and Dani Lynne Poteet-Schooley and husband Richard; cherished grandfather of Stephen Barker, Katelynne Gracie and husband Zachery, Timmy “Moose” Poteet and wife Lauren, Brandon Barker, Angelina Poteet and husband Andrew; loving great grandfather of Peyton O'Neil, Pyper Gracie, Payslee Gracie, Aaron Jeffries, Parker Gracie, Blakely Poteet; caring brother of Judy, Steven, Tom, Tami, the late Vernon and the late Bonnie; also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Growing up Duc loved bowling and bowled in several leagues. Once he had children of his own, he took his kids to their own bowling events. Duc loved spending time with his grandkids, great grandkids and going to their sporting events. He enjoyed spending time at Live Casino and golfing in a golfing club. He did two tours in Vietnam in the Air Force where he was honorably discharged from and eventually retired from NSA where he was proud to work. His great grandchildren will miss having Sunday McDonald’s pancakes with him, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He will be sorely missed by many.

A viewing will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home of Lansdowne, 2719 Hammonds Ferry Rd, Halethorpe MD 21227 on Wednesday from 4-7pm. A funeral service will take place Thursday at 11am followed by burial at Loudon Park Cemetery.
