Amos Button Obituary
Amos G. Button, born on July 29, 1935, in St. Louis, passed away on February 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedication both in his career and personal life. He was the proud proprietor of Button Auto Machine Shop, where his expertise and passion for mechanics flourished. In addition to running his own business, Amos dedicated 23 years of his career to McDonnell Douglas, contributing significantly to the aviation industry during his tenure.
Amos was a man of diverse interests, with a profound affection for old cars. His membership in the Slick Car Club highlighted not only his appreciation for automotive history but also his commitment to the meticulous restoration of classic vehicles. Beyond his mechanical pursuits, he enjoyed watching various sports, including baseball, football, and NASCAR races, where he found joy and excitement in the competition and camaraderie.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Button, who stood by him through thick and thin. Amos's family tree flourishes with his two sons, Alan (Connie Westhoff) Button and Douglas Button, as well as his two daughters, Julie (Mark) Hakenewerth and Catherine (Keith) Fetsch. A devoted grandfather, he leaves behind seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren who were sources of pride and joy in his life.
Amos is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Helen Button and Anita Patton; and two brother-in-laws, Paul (Anna) Patton and Edger Zerr, alongside a host of other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, Amos L. Button, and mother, Myrtle Button. He is also preceded in death by his siblings: two brothers, Sterling Button and Calvin Button, and two sisters, Birdie (Don) Noah and Alma Jean Button.
Amos G. Button will be remembered not only for his contributions to the automotive industry and his professional life but also for the love and warmth he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
