Amos was born in Noble, Georgia on April 30, 1939, to Julia Ann and Jack Jarvis Byers. He enlisted in the United States Army at age 17 and was honorably discharged after 24 years of service. He served one term in Vietnam and was stationed at the Panama Canal Zone and many other bases across the United States. During his military career, he attained the rank of E7 and was an Airborne Ranger. He was a drill sergeant as well. He received many military honors including National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 bronze stars, Master Parachutist Badge, Honor Graduate from Ranger School earning Ranger Tab & Combat Infantry Badge.

After retiring from the military, he became a businessman. He opened Commercial Fire & Safety, Inc. which provided fire extinguisher sales and services in Nashville and the surrounding area. He relished working alongside his son. His wife Patsy ran the office. He closed the business doors after 30 years during the beginning year of the Chinese virus era of COVID.

Amos never met a stranger and was friendly to everyone. He especially enjoyed his social time with friends, notably good friend Bill Yearsly, at his local bars TNT and Carl's Corner. He had a passion for betting on NASCAR races and football games. He also delighted in trips to various casinos with his son, Tony, and daughter-in-law, Donna. He was a believer in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He specifically treasured his visit with chaplain Ricky Wade during his last VA hospitalization. His favorite parting words were "love you, see you."

In addition to his spouse of 65 years, Patsy, he is survived by his children: Tony Byers (Donna), Susan Hammer, Rhonda Eurioste (Richard); grandchildren: Rachel Byers, Hilary Byers, Zachary Grannan (Tiffany) and Bryn Eurioste; great grandchildren: Sawyer Grannan, Elliott Grannan, Killian Grannan; sister Faye Garren; many nieces and nephews.
