Amos Cupp Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 13, 2025.
Amos Mel Cupp, age 87, of Wolfe City, Texas, passed away on November 11, 2025. He was born on September 7, 1938, in Dixon, Texas, to Oliver and Permelia (Hamilton) Cupp.

Amos was a faithful member of Aberfoyle Baptist Church, where he found strength, fellowship, and purpose throughout his life. A proud veteran, he served in the United States Army for three years, where he achieved distinction by placing 3rd in the World Finals in rifle competition and was also known for his skills in archery.

A true outdoorsman, Amos loved hunting, fishing, and tinkering in his garden, always finding joy in the simple beauty of God's creation. Above all, he cherished his family-especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild-who were the light of his life.

Amos is survived by his current wife, Ann Cook, children: Monty Cupp and wife Belinda, Laurie Watson, and Kelly Cupp and wife Julie; grandchildren: Rance Cupp, Bowdrie Cupp, Jake McQueary, Amanda Burkett, Shelby "Sam" McQueary, Kaylee Lester, Ali Edwards, Shelbi Wulf, Megan Wilson, and Riley Watson; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; along with a host of extended family members and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Betty Lou (Hogue) Cupp; his parents, Oliver and Permelia (Hamilton) Cupp; his brother, Danny Oliver Cupp; and his sister, Louisa Ann Cupp.

A funeral service honoring Amos's life will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Aberfoyle Baptist Church. Serving as pallbearers: Brancen Cupp, Garrett Cupp, Hunter Burkett, Wyatt Lester, Mike Wigley and Jacques Hawkins. Honorary pallbearers are Justin Burkett, Mark Lester, M.J. McQueary, Braden Cupp, Hagen Cupp and Dalton McQueary.

Amos will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his love for family, and his generous spirit that touched all who knew him.
