Amos Barr Neff, beloved husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 11, 1929, in Logan, Utah, to the late John and Carol Neff.
Barr married his love, Sandra Pugh, on August 29, 1958, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they raised a beautiful family. Barr was a devoted father of nine children, grandfather to 17 and great-grandfather to 11. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Stanley and Rodney, sister Carol, and son David.
Barr was a man of faith and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina. He later served in the United States Army, where he excelled as a member of the Camp Gordon Rifle Team.
Barr had a successful career as a high school teacher and land surveyor for Neff Engineering. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in numerous callings throughout his life, including Elders Quorum President, Scout Leader, Bishopric Counselor, and Branch President.
Those who knew Barr remember him as a quiet but playful man with a quick wit and a love for his family. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. He was a patient, kind, and wonderful man. He loved sharing stories about growing up during the Depression, his experiences traveling South America during his mission, and dancing at Saltair as a young man. He had a passion for music, the Spanish language, and sweet treats like root beer, cinnamon bears, and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.
Barr was a cancer survivor and faced life's challenges with strength and grace. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Sandy, and children Greg (Ami), Debbie (Dale), Doug (Angela), Diana, Michael, Jennifer (John), Wendy (Jason), and Rebecca (Mark).
Barr will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May his memory be a blessing to those whose lives he touched.
