Amy Linnea Downing

With heavy hearts, we share that Amy Linnea Downing (Schult), 49, passed away peacefully at her home in Hopkinsville, KY on Wednesday, July 30th.

Amy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 26 years, Bart Downing; son, Michael; sisters, Bobbi Stienmetz (Jason) and Christa Schult (Justin); nephew, Aaron Stienmetz; mother, Linnea Schult; and many other family and friends.

Amy was preceded in death by her father, Robert M. Schult.

Amy was born on June 23, 1976, a force of nature from the start. She grew up in Elkhorn, WI but called many places home over the years. She was a devoted mother, loving wife, supportive sister, and a loyal friend to many. A true "Amy of all trades," she mastered story telling, dog agility, various crafting projects, cooking, gardening, home remodeling, and homeschooling for her son, Michael. While one of her happy places was in her recliner, yarn project in hand with her pets nestled beside her, Amy also was keen to try new things and experience life to its fullest. Her avid love for adventure and travel sparked particularly during high school as an exchange student in Brazil, where she connected with an amazing host family and made lifelong friends.

Professionally, she was a dedicated nurse who brought immeasurable laughter and light to those she advocated and cared for. Her infectious nature and quick wit will be missed sorely by anyone who had the pleasure of crossing her path. Amy's unwavering spirit and generosity leaves behind a legacy of strength and resilience.

In accordance with Amy's wishes, no funeral services will be held. Dogwood Funerals & Cremations of Hopkinsville is assisting with the arrangements.
