Amy Emily Folkers

Amy E. Folkers, 93, of Grand Island, died on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at CountryHouse Residence. A Memorial Service will be at 11 AM on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Derek Apfel, CFC officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the South Pleasant View Cemetery in Plainview, NE.

Amy was born on May 25, 1932, to John and Ava (Wright) Wiegert on a farm south of Plainview, NE. She graduated in 1949 from Osmond High School. On July 30, 1950, Amy was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Eldred E. Folkers. The couple lived on the family farm by Osmond, NE. They moved to Columbus, NE in 1956, then Scottsbluff, NE in 1958, and Grand Island, NE in 1966.

She was a homemaker, served as a Sunday school teacher, and volunteered regularly for various causes.

Amy is survived by her son, Terry Folkers Ogallala, NE; daughter, Cheryl (Ron) Larsen, Longmont, CO; grandson, Weston (Aubrie) Larsen, Berthoud, CO; great-grandchildren: Lukas and Landon Larsen, Berthoud CO; and brothers: Bob, Denny and Larry Wiegert.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eldred E Folkers; daughter-in-law, Kathy Folkers; parents: Ava and John Wiegert; brothers: Dwain and LeRoy Wiegert; and sisters: Norma Bomar, Dorothy Benne, Wanda Smalley, Marva Cooper and Betty Howard.
