Michael “Mike” Havranek, 72, formerly of Grand Island, died on February 15, 2026 at Accura Health of Kenesaw.
Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Apfel Funeral Home with Brandon Bachle officiating. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Mike was born on September 18, 1953, in Alliance, NE to Edward M. and Norma J. (Hansen) Havranek. He attended school in Hemingford, Nebraska until 5th grade when the family moved to the Grand Island area where he attended country school and then graduated from Grand Island Northwest High School.
As a young man, Mike belonged to a car club where he would show his 1967 and 1968 Dodge Chargers. After attending many swap meets, he realized that the wives that were there would prefer to look at something other than auto parts. That’s when he decided to deal in antique glassware. He was an antiques dealer throughout the rest of his life.
Mike is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Kristal and Matt Wood, 4 nieces; Amber Turner (John), Retha Wood, Sara Wood, Jennifer Wood (Luke Lyons) and 1 nephew; Joseph Wood, 3 great nieces, 2 great nephews, 1 great, great nephew and 1 great, great niece.
Mike was predeceased by his parents and grandparents.
