Adams Mason Funeral Home & Crematory - AkronAmy Jo McCortney, 54, of Akron Ohio, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully with her husband at her side, on February 15th, 2026. All who knew her are deeply saddened and her family devastated.
Amy was born on June 21st, 1971 in Akron, Ohio to Linda Sudia and Dave McCortney. Known for her warmth and humor, anyone in her presence found profound comfort and lots of laughter. She was strong willed and immensely proud to be a woman, living her life marching to the beat of her own drum. She loved God and dogs - and as much as anything else - music. A sister of the moon, her essence will always echo to her friends and family through the voice of Stevie Nicks. Amy was an extraordinary and proud mother, her daughter considering her to be both her eternal best friend and greatest blessing.
Amy is survived by her daughter, Sara Evans, her husband Bryan Chidester and Piper (the world’s cutest Yorkshire Terrier). She was preceded in death by many beautiful people she loved in life who are angels she has now joined in Heaven.
A celebration of life will be held on April 12th from 2-6 at Pioneer Shelter- Good Year Heights Metro Park. 550 Frazier Ave, Akron OH 44305. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Northeast Ohio SPCA Pet Shelter, 9555 Brookpark Rd, Parma.
